About the project
New Brunswick's is expected to face an energy shortfall as early as 2028. To ensure homes, businesses, and communities continue to have access to reliable and affordable electricity, additional sources of generation are needed. Renewable energy projects, including wind, can help meet this demand with cost-effective, locally generated clean electricity.
RES and the Northern Energy Alliance are proposing the Northern Alliance Moose Meadows Wind Project, located on Crown land in northern New Brunswick approximately 20 km southeast of Bois-Joli in the traditional territory of Eel River Bar First Nation.
If approved, the project would include 20 to 35 wind turbines and generate up to 200 megawatts (MW) of renewable electricity, enough to power approximately 40,000 homes annually while helping meet New Brunswick's growing energy needs.
The project was submitted to NB Power’s 2025 Request for Expression of Interest and is currently awaiting a decision. Environmental studies, engagement activities, and project planning are underway.
The Northern Energy Alliance is a partnership representing the Restigouche, Acadian Peninsula, and Chaleur Regional Service Commissions, and the Eel River Bar and Pabineau First Nations.
